« on: Thursday 06 October 16 19:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, I have posted much earlier about a friends ancestor who I finally located her marriage/death etc, it is now the rest of the family/children that are causing problems for me, any help that can be given will as usual be appreciated :)

Family in 1871 census

Robert Linn 50
Emma 30
Lydia 11
Sarah A 10
Robert W 8
Frederick 6
Jane 3
Flora 1
All children born St George in the East
Residing at North Block, Shadwell, Stepney
Census Ref RG10/545/37/28

1861 Census:-

Robert Linn 40
Emma 22
Sarah A 64 Mother/Widow
Lucy 1
Sarah Ann 2 months
Residing at 35, Gt Hermitage Street, St George in the East
Census Ref RG09/281/168/38

In 1881 Robert Linn 62 Widower, Florry 11 and an Emma 5 are in the Stepney Union Workhouse, St Leonard Street, Poplar
Census Ref RG11/504/66/13

Emma Linn (Mother) has died in 1880, Robert dies 1884 in the same Workhouse.

Lydia is possibly the illegitimate child of Emma Holmes, Emma Married Robert Linn in Dec qtr 1859 the same qtr a Lydia Holmes was registered, Lydia, Sarah A, Robert William and Frederic/k were all baptised the same day 24th February 1865.

I have located Flora, she married a James Joseph Peckham Dec qtr 1896 Birmingham 6d 41 and in 1901 is living a few doors away from Jane who married an Urban James Fletcher in 1888 Edmonton.

It is the rest of the children I need help on!

The Lighter Side / FindMyPast/FreeBMD Marriage??
« on: Friday 22 April 16 21:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, hopefully someone can give ( at least me) an answer to this marriage :-

FreeBMD Thomas CHADDOCK/Sarah Davies March qtr 1861 Madeley 6a 830

FindMyPast Thomas Chadwick/Sarah Davies March qtr 1861 Madeley 6a 830

The parish register entry is clearly Chaddock on FindMyPast so how did they know that in the1861 census the couple were now shown as Chadwick?

The Common Room / Epic search for the truth about divided family
« on: Wednesday 12 August 15 21:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi again all, another phone call from my mother re a book, on this occasion due to her knowledge of my interest in Genealogy she mentioned once again an article in the Daily Mirror, on this occasion I have ordered a copy and I feel all those who are searching for possible living relatives could gain an insight into possible ways to go about it,  this lady searched for her 21 brothers and sisters who had been put in care,  once again if interested the book is Doreen's Lot published by Peter J Bennett & Barrie Morris available on Amazon

Just posting in case anyone is interested!

Census and Resource Discussion / FindMyPast
« on: Tuesday 03 March 15 17:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all, has anyone posted about the new format, it was workable after the last debacle with a bit of tweeking and a rethink of how to search, but now from my findings it is back to a new learning curve.

Any thoughts on how you have found it, now my mobile looks to have stopped my bookmark of the previous format?

The Lighter Side / Odd 1841 on FindMyPast
« on: Thursday 09 October 14 14:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, just a warning to any new researchers looking for ancestors in the 1841 census in at least two areas in London but possibly a lot more eg Marylebone/Shoreditch, you will find possibly a lot of them showing as born in Warwickshire?

Suggest this is a mistranscription of " Not born in county" denoted as "N" on the original!

Have informed FindMyPast and await results
