Hi Treetotal (great username)

No idea of photo's origins. It's a scanned copy of a picture which hasn't been seen since mum died.
Sorry I don't even remember looking or seeing anything on the back  at the time of scanning.

Excuse me for butting in, I'm not connected to this post at all but I saw the results posted.
Quality work. Congratulations to all.

I think this picture is my grandmother Annie Elizabeth Hanger b 1890 and her mum Annie Elizabeth Hanger nee O'Brien. Taken in Melbourne Australia late 1890.
My mother said it was her and her mum but that would date it 1918.
I would like the date confirmed if possible. Can anyone help?
Paul.

Thanks J.J.

I have Edward's Service Record ordered by snail mail sometime ago. He was A/Sgt 871.
I am chasing him and his family again.
You are right about my threads. I come back to Family History periodically after bouts of enthusiasm and forget what I have done in the past and end up staring again.
This thread though has been particularly fruitful.
I promise to keep more careful and organised in the future!

Hi all,

heatherjulie - yes, both lots are mine. Lotsa info re everybody else just not Mary Ellen. Guilford was Mary Ann's late sister's hubby.

Paulinej - last definite census 1871 (see heatherjulie above)

I know where all the family members went and even checked connections to informants, witnesses and sundry people mentioned on BMD certs and included in censuses as living in same residence and even next-door neighbours to see if I could make a connection. Checked orphanages, prisons, workhouses, emigrations etc. Found hundreds of Mary Ellens but could not make any definite connection.

Sorry folks, I don't think Mary's findable unless a relative reads this or are doing their own research and finds me.

So thanks for your help but don't spend too much time on this.

Cheers

Hello everyone

After a couple of years away from FH and Rootschat my enthusiasm has returned and I want to continue searching for lost rellies.
So, with fingers crossed and optimism peaking I post the following:

Can anyone advise how I can find what happened to my great great aunt Mary Ellen Jackson born
15th Jun 1863 in Hulme to Mary Ann Rogers ( and Edward Jackson, although not on BC).
On the BC under "name if any" she is named "Mary Ellen Jackson" and may have been known as Mary Ellen Jackson ROGERS. Her siblings, Edward and Elizabeth were also surnamed "Rogers" but later went as "Jackson".

So as they say....the extremely difficult can be done now but the impossible takes a little longer !!!

Any Ideas

Cheers

Hello KB

I also found that reference to Edward R.
Old "Ted" must have been a brave fellow and a bit of a hero!
I am still interested to know where you found the refs to Elsie E. and her marriage etc.
I have difficulty navigating Canadian BMDs and FH sites.

Thanks for now

Paul

Hi again KB, sorry for delay, had to go out for short while.
Yes to all except Elsie's marriage etc. That I didn't know.
The children were born in London, It seems Eleanor wanted her babies there.
Without giving away any secrets, how did you trace the Canada connections? I've always found BMD on Canada websites to be stumbling blocks, I never had any luck. Couldn't even find my maternal GGF's death in Canada details from 1920.
I have a feeling you may be a professional who can't sleep (assuming you're northern hemisphere).
I have absolutely no problem with this and have paid reasonable amounts in the past to help break down brickwalls. I have Ed and El's MC 23Dec 1916. If I have anything that you would want e.g. Ed's Service record pls just ask.

Thank you

Paul

Hello there,
this is my Edward but I have always read "Matchmaker" as a typo for "Watchmaker".
Watchmaker was a popular occupation amongst the Jacksons even down to my own father.
Thanks for your reply
