George Batcheldor born c1802 Clewer Berkshire married Maria Charlton 1829 Islington London.
On 1851 census they are living in Winkfield Berkshire occ. Victualler with sons aged 5 & 3.
Have had no luck finding him on the 1841 census so far. Married 16 years before first child is a bit unusual, but could be correct, have two more likely children for them who would appear on the 1841 census if only it could be found.
Your help to track this family down would be much appreciated
Cheers

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Baptism Record Mary Batchelder
« on: Tuesday 25 October 16 02:14 BST (UK)  »
Could someone decipher this record for me please, from Parish Betchworth, St Michael. Which is entered as for Mary Batchelder, but may be something completely different.
Thankyou

This photo appears to have been cut and torn from a larger one, (wish I had the complete original.)
Could someone please fill in the corner and maybe add some colour.
Thank you

New Zealand Completed Requests / How did Master E Corbett come to New Zealand?
« on: Monday 19 September 16 03:10 BST (UK)  »

Trying to find the passage to New Zealand for Ernest Corbett c1885, one of 6 children found so far.
Father James died 1893 and his wife Fanny married Herbert WILCOX 15 Apr 1900, short lived though he died J-A-S 1901.
Have found a record for Master E Corbett dep 20 Oct 1893 London to Melbourne on the “Orient” aged 8, he appears to be in the company of a Mr. H. G. Thomas age 28, whose name I don’t think is connected to the family.
Fanny had a brother, his wife and family living in Gisborne and he seems to have been sent out to them, one of his sisters age 13 was living with relations in 1901 census and two other children age 11 and 8 with Fanny and Herbert.
Ernest appears in Paperspast 3 July 1901 Poverty Bay Herald “A Kaiti Riot”  and is on the 1911 E/R living with the Cox family.
The "Orient" doesn't seem to have continued on to NZ and haven't been able to find any record of his voyage to NZ.  Being sent, alone and quite soon after his father died, to unknown people on the other side of the world would be quite frightening to an 8 year old. If Mr.Thomas was looking after him hope they got on well together.
Your help to find this leg of his journey would be appreciated  .

I think this is the last one missing in NZ.
On 5 April 1926 Ernest Joseph Poswillo married Amelia Mary McCormick.
Ernest died 16 Jan 1979 and was cremated and his ashes interred at Hastings Cemetery.
Amelia Mary has her name and date of death as 1989 recorded on the same plaque as Joseph.
Haven’t been able to find her death on NZBDM nor on the Hastings Cemetery records.
Her parents are buried at Havelock North Cemetery but no mention of Amelia there either.
The surname has been transcribed in various ways on a few records and have tried variations with no luck so far and your help to track down this date would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Will try to attach a cemetery photo.

Technical Help / Missing "It Is Now Safe To Remove Hardware" Amended.....
« on: Thursday 14 July 16 03:37 BST (UK)  »
Just in the last couple of days haven't been able to eject my Flashdrives safely.  Hover over icon, LH bottom corner of screen, and get "Safely remove Hardware and Eject Media"  Left or Right click on it and get "Open Devices and Printers"  and greyed out below that line is the name of the flashdrive and can't click on it to get the go ahead.
Have managed to get it out safely by going to "This PC -Devices and Drives-Removable Disk"  and right click there and on  DDMenu is an "Eject" which works and get the above phrase up.  Have googled for a simple solution, but am not brave enough to type in their formula and maybe make the problem worse.  Anyone have a simple solution so I can get back to the fast method that has worked well for many years.

Thanks
HeatherR

Whoops, sorry got my left and right mixed up.  It is the bottom Right hand corner.
Computer is an Acer, Veriton with Windows 10.

Joseph is on 1861 census as Naphtale, 1871 Naphtli,  can’t find them on the 1881 Census but there is a Joseph Naphtali on 1884 Electoral register at 8 Headcorn Rd Tottenham- House as Occupier, but whether it is same Joseph is yet to be proved, maybe finding him in 1881 may help.

Marriage of Edward J-F-M 1918 Edmonton Mddx England to Lillian M BRIERS.

Have found Grace and Joseph Knowles on the WA E/rolls together up to 1958, no Joseph from 1963 and Grace still there on1980 roll.
Haven’t found Joseph and Ellen or Edward & Lillian on any other records. Gaps 1881-1886-1918-1934 to be filled in and your help with tracing their movements and any more children for both couples would be most appreciated.

Completed Census Requests / 1841 Census look up please
« on: Saturday 16 January 16 00:39 GMT (UK)  »
Am trying to find Mordecai or Marcus HYMAN on this census, have tried all ways I can think of to find him but he remains elusive as ever. He has a married daughter (POSWILLO) on the Gravesend census but no 90 year old father listed with her family.  Given his age at census time wouldn't expect him to have travelled far from home.
He died 2 July 1846, High St Chatham age 95 years and occupation Surgeon.  Death reported by Jehiel PHILLIPS who on 1851 census was "Rabbi to the Jewish Congregation"
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers
