Hello and welcome to Rootschat  :)

According to 1881, Mary is born Galway. Do you have her maiden name?

Unfortunately, that isn't enough information.
Registration for non-Catholic marriages began in 1845 but for Roman Catholic marriages it was 1864.
If your family were Catholic then you would be looking for Parish records and you would need to know the parish and then see if there are any available records.
If you have looked, as you say, and can't see anything then the likelihood is that they were Catholic.

Hello again,

on one of the threads aghadowey has referred to, I gave you a possible marriage for Michael Carney and Ellen Flynn.  Is that not what you are looking for?

You don't give any other names for Carney and Murphy here. Would Carney be the male and Murphy the female?
1800s covers a long period of time. You must have some idea of a time. Did they have children?
Have you looked at the Irish BMDs on Family Search?

Hi Dave,

that may be a bit difficult to find.

http://www.rootsireland.ie/  has a site for Galway West which would cover Ballinderreen. It is a pay site but uses the same parish records so probably be of no help there.

Griffiths Valuation (1850s) does not show any Casey in Ballinderreen so no help there. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/galway/drumacoo.htm  Drumacoo is the civil parish as opposed to the Roman Catholic Parish.

Yes and it does mention that he is a P O clerk! Yet he is a plumber and born America in Dartmoor census. :-\

What was his occupation on marriage and birth of child?

1861 has a married Mary Tucker born Bath abt 1831 who is a servant (a nurse) in Oxford.

Hi,

I see a moderator has moved you to the right place  :)

It looks as though there are no records available for your time period - see here: http://galwaywest.rootsireland.ie/generic.php?filename=sources.tpl&selectedMenu=showdatabase

These show that Ballinderreen/ Kilcolgan Roman Catholic Parish. Are your family Catholic?

There are family rumours of a spell in prison but no other explanation of the change of name.
Any information would be most helpful

Hello,

the rumour could well be correct - see here

Hello bmk923,

I just read your message - apologies for the delay.

It's a lovely surprise to hear from someone after so long, but unfortunately it isn't the same Cleary family. :(  (I had a quick look at your other thread).

In 1901 our Cleary family are in Templeshelin near Adamstown.

I wish you well with your search,

Heywood  :)
