Info for the Gem Street industrial School is not available at the NA. Contact details for minutes, admission registers etc on link. I also think there is a possibility that Eliza age 8 given in 1871 is there.

May get info on parentage

Think there may have been another son John, the name Snell does not seem to be that common in area.
MAY, JOHN mmn SNELL

Death - MAY'S, JOHN 0

Maybe some of the other children birth/death certs may help trace or give more info?

Difficult one...
List of counties in Ireland
https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/irl/
See counties ending in 'th' it could possibly be Meath or Louth. Both were in the province of Leinster as well as Dublin. Unless she named an area more local to birthplace.
Info see Terminology- https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counties_of_Ireland

I would agree with Carole, enumerator likely wrote in wrong place. It seems an unlikely job for a female.

The one you have, his service record is online
Name David Rodger
Gender Male
Enlistment Age 30
Birth Place Port Glasgow, Renfrew
Military Date 1914
Relationship to Soldier Self (Head)
Regimental Number 7308
Regiment Name Princess Louise's (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders)
Number of Images 7
Form Title Army Reserve (Special Reserve)
It lists his wife as Annie Ross married 1903 in Port Glasgow, you could check their marriage for parent names.
The surname appears to be Rodger(s) on the birth, there is also this family in 1891 in Dumbartonshire, did they move back? Maybe a different family...
