Looking at Elizabeth's son Thomas - the only Thomas HOLLIDAY (or similar) I can see birth registered at Wigton around 1840 is Thomas Brough HOLLIDAY mmn BROUGH, however he appears in Holme St Cuthbert in 1861 with his family, so not Elizabeth's son. There are a few births with no mmn, but not in Wigan Registration District.

will keep looking ...

Modified to add:
This is probably him:
Thomas HOLLIDAY Sep qtr 1844 Wigton, no mmn

Baptised 26 Feb 1845 at Wigton, mother Betty HOLLIDAY

The Lighter Side / Re: Edward Whitehorn d1868 Poplar

Have you looked into who is the Edward WHITEHORN aged 51 whose death is registered Jun qtr 1868 Poplar? Perhaps the age was wrongly recorded and it was re-registered with the correct age in Dec qtr? (I don't really know that this might happen, just trying to come up with reasons for the delay.)  :-\

Modified to add:
I can't readily see another Edward WHITEHORN born c1817 around Poplar at this time.

I cannot see a William Wright as a colliery proprietor in earlier registers though.

There is a William WRIGHT, colliery owner and agent of Wolverhampton mentioned in regards a new venture at Frieston Shore.
Friday,  Mar. 4, 1881
Publication: Stamford Mercury

Also a William WRIGHT elected to a seat on the board of the Sharlston Colliery in 1900.

Not sure that it helps at all, but just shows that there was at least one of that name.

I notice also that Norman McLeod GILLESPIE is buried with his sister Katherine Madeline BROSNAHAN (died 28 Jan 1946 aged 67).

Modified to add:
Also a Mrs Erna KENNEDY and Mrs Catherine GILLESPIE at 29 Milton Rd, Mt Eden in 1930 Wise's Directory (no husbands).

Am assuming this is his probate - died 11 April 1935 - granted to Mary Ann PREECE (wife of Charles PREECE) and Rosetta CHURTON (wife of Joseph CHURTON). A Joseph CHURTON married Rosetta BAILEY in Set qtr 1930 at Stoke on Trent (6b/444).

Doesn't help with relationship. As "nephew", he could equally be related to a sibling of Frank BAILEY, though I can't see a likely candidate there either.  :-\

I'm not an expert on Irish geography, but I think:

Loughdawan and Lislea. (They are very close to each other, less than 2km)

I am returning to this search
Where did we find the newspaper article bout Pete raffle accusing someone please

I sent it to you by email.  ;) It was from Friday, Dec. 1, 1871- Publication: Nottinghamshire Guardian

"Robberies at Ilkeston - Thomas Mullin, an Irishman, was charged by Peter Raffle, musician, Nottingham, with stealing from the dwelling house of Catherine Connelly, Ilkeston, a black cloth coat, pair of boots, knife, and box, his property, on the 23rd instant. ..."

As an aside, I'm not sure why the Worldwide subscription is a different price in the UK and in Australia. I realise of course that exchange rates vary, but at the moment for example, the full price in Australia is $249.99 AUD for 6 months (about £141 today), which is considerably more than the full price in the UK of £99.99.  :-\
