Pembrokeshire / Information on St Florence please
« on: Friday 18 July 08 16:08 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am going to be visiting Pembroke in August for 4 days and I would love to know a little bit about the village of St Florence,   my ancestor lived there from 1861 - 1901  and on the census it states that they lived at St Florence Village, Mill House and the Sun Inn,  in 1851 he also worked at Poppy Bush farm.

What I would like to know if possible is,  where are these places and do they still exist today ? and is the Parish Church open every day for visitors or must we phone ahead and book an appointment.

Any help on the above will be brilliant.

Thank you for your help.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Blea Moor Tunnel, Parish of Chapel le Dale
« on: Friday 16 May 08 14:00 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I've just made out the name of the place where both my ancestors were living at the time of their marriage in 1873, Chapel le Dale,   Blea Moor Tunnel,  I've also just seen a photo of the tunnel,  but can anyone tell me what houses there would have been for the Miners & Railway workers and are they still their today,  another query is,  they would have to have paid rent so would there have been any documentaion that is still available today for us to search.

Thank you in advance.

Rutland Lookup Requests / Baptisim Robert Maden, Morcott, Rutland
« on: Friday 16 May 08 13:41 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I have a birth certificate of my ancestor  Robert William Maden,  he was born 12 May 1878 Morcott, Rutland in the sub district of Barrowden, Uppingham,  his parents names were Arthur Maden and Elizabeth Ellison.  ( Arthur was a Railway Labourer )

I have had a look on the IGI site only to not have found it.  I am not sure if Maden,  is their correct surname so I am hoping that there is a Bap date for my ancestor and a surname that might be the same or different.

I will be very grateful for any help.

Thank you

Leicestershire / My ancestors living in Woodsville, Blackfordby
« on: Friday 16 May 08 10:59 BST (UK)  »
Hello Everyone,

I'm after a bit of knowledge on the above area,  my ancestor Caroline Midden ( surname maybe wrong as siblings have different variations )  was born there in 18 Feb 1881,  her mothers name was Elizabeth Ellison and the father was called Arthur, he was a Railway Labourer,  not knowing the area personally  could anyone tell me a bit about the place and if there was a railway line near by that was being built at that time,  would there be any records that are kept that I may search for my ancestor,  just to confirm the spelling of his name.

Any help given will be brilliant.

Thank you

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / 1873 Marriage Chapel le Dale, Settle
« on: Thursday 15 May 08 18:43 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I have the marriage certificate of Arthur Needham and Elizabeth Ellison and they were married on the 30th Nov 1874 in the Parish Church, Chapel le Dale,  Arthur was of full age and Elizabeth 18,  I think his fathers name was George but I'm not 100% sure because of the writing and Elizabeth's father was called Richard both were labourers and Arthur was a Miner.

I am a bit concerned about Arthurs fathers name and  surname,  because if I have the right  couple Arthur & Elizabeth,  by the 1881 & 1891 census and of that on their children's birth certificate goes by the surnames of,  Maden, Meyden, Midden and Maiden.

Would anybody who have access to these registers  could possible check their names for me please.  I am having great difficulty finding these people before this date,  I have checked the census but I am failing.

Any help would very much be appreciated,  anything at all.

Thank you

Hello,

If it is possible can someone please do me a look up for my ancestor that died 5 March 1893, his name was Arthur Maiden and was age 41,  he was living at the time at Caerau Huts, Maesteg and was working I presume at the local Coal  Pit Caerau.  He died of Pneumonia.

What I would like if I am not asking too much trouble is,  are there any names mentioned for example family members.

I am trying to determing if this is my correct ancestor.

Thank you so much for what ever help anyone can give me.
