my distant relative got married in Derbyshire. His name was William Hardy and married Mary Bott in 1703. He called his children William, Anne and David. Unusual for English children of the time but not unusual for Scotts children to be called after Stuart monarchs. Can anyone help and let me know how I find out if he was Scottish or if he was English with a passion for Scotland before civil registration. Thanks

his father was Arthur thornton and mother was Emma Cooper. Not sure when Emma was born. Arthur was born in 1886 in Huddersfield and censused in 1901 at Cowcliffe road. I can't get any census info on Emma. Her parents names were Emma and Thomas cooper. don't have mother's maiden name. Hope you can help. Spent over £5 on 1901 census to try and find her to no avail.

Hi
Just started my father in laws family tree (he's 85). His mother was Emma Cooper and her parents were thomas and emma. Could anyone help as I've tried the 1901 census and can't find anything at all. Would like to get in touch with anyone related as it would make Mr T's day.

I have the onerous task of doing my father in law's family tree (he's 85!).
Arthur thornton was Ivor, Louie and Noel's father. He was censused in 1901 aged 15 at 83 Cowcliffe Road in Huddersfield. His father was Alfred and his mother was Eliza (nee armitage?) I can't get back any further as yet. Does anyone else have any information on him or his siblings. Sorry don't have census info on me at present. Arthur married Emma Cooper. see separate item on ons.

Any information would be helpful.
Thanks  ???

The Nunn's in my family tree are from Steeple Bumpstead area in 1840s and married into the Bacon and Clayden families. Is this of any help. My descendant is Susan Nunn. Her mother's maiden name was Eldred I think. Haven't got notes with me so can't check information.

A friend has a relations who was called Franz Schubert and had a shop in Whitby. During ww1 he had his windows smashed because he was German. Does anyone have any information on him, his shop, the incident or his descendants.

It is possible he was headed for America but landed in Middlesborough/ whitby/ scarborough as a stopping off point before travelleing to Liverpool to get accross the Atlantic.

Is is possible that he was Jewish and trying to evade the clearences in Eastern Europe.
