Tracing the family of "John Kane and Rachel Thompson" they were married 6 Apr 1896 Christ Church Drumchose.  John is the son of John Kane, Rachel daughter of Robert Thompson.  They had 8 children 5 of whom died in infancy.  The surviving children are  Margaret Kane b. 13 Dec 1900 (Enogh), William 19 Sep 1903 (Enogh),  Mary Jane b. 24 Aug 1908 (Enogh).  The family resided in Protestant Street, BallyClose Street and Enogh between 1896 and 1911.  I'm hoping that taking a look at this side branch to my main tree may help me uncover information on  my Thompson family. Any insight would be fabulous.

All the best.

Hi Gladys....

Hope all is well....I have to agree with you about there being a connection somewhere!!! We have soooo, many surnames in common.  I can tell you the Gardiner's that I know of, come into the family though my Susannah Hedley's side (she married James Watson Close 1st in 1866)....an Agnes Hedley married a Gardiner, he died and she remarried.....and ended up in Scotland. I have all the info, just don't have time at the minute to find it as only home for lunch from work....will look it up and send you the details.

Have a great day.

To Wendl - I have a copy of The Short Story - No 5 which covers the speech given to employees about the move to Belfast. My father Edgar 'Robbie' Robson worked in the Drawing Office and we lived in a Shorts house in Holywood.
I have scanned the booklet so can email.
I am involved with a few aviation groups between Bournemouth and Southampton and am working up a 50min talk entitled 'A Short Story - Long History'

Hi Steve,

That would be wonderful....unfortunately until you have posted 3 times, you cannot access private messages so I can send you my email address.....I look forward to hearing from you, and appreciate your reply.

All the best
