I’ve downloaded a copy of Kirk sessions records from West Linton parish as it contains a testimonial of my ancestors. However I’m unsure what the testimonial is actually about? I thought it was for their marriage but I’m unsure.

My ancestors are Cecelia Lowrie and John Ramsay. I’ve attached a copy of the downloaded record. Hopefully someone will explain the intricacies of the records!

I am absolutely amazed at how you managed to find all this! This is the correct Martha as her dad was James Stewart and he was indeed a Tailor.

To be honest, I wouldn't blame Martha if she wasn't honest about her age.... after all she was married to a toy boy!  ;)

I'm just happy that this mystery has been solved at last. Many thanks to you and others for your help. If I have any more ancestors suspected to have lived in the Northumberland, I know where to turn to!

Hello,

This might be a long shot but I was wondering if someone can do a look up or have already done a look up for a marriage certificate for a marriage between a Martha A T Stewart and William W Blyth in Tynemouth in 1930?

I suspect Martha is my 2x great aunt, who was born in Moffat in Scotland in 1889. She moved to England and was working as a domestic servant for a family in Gateshead in the 1911 Census. But my family had no further records on her whereabouts, except for a brief mention in her twin brother's will, after he was killed in action in Flanders in 1918. The will stated that she was living in Gateshead in 1918 so I can only assume that she stayed in England since then. I'm hoping that there will be a copy of the marriage certificate which will confirm the identity of this Martha's father thus matching Martha to my Martha.

Hello,

I've found a death certificate for one of my ancestors and it was noted that he'd died from 'concussion to the brain and shock to the nerves system after being thrown' but I cannot seem to work out what exactly it was that he was thrown from.

Would be much appreciated if anyone could help me with this?

As far as I know Nance Mow was supposedly to have lived in the Roxburghshire during 1590s and onwards. William Young- her child was born in 1616.

OK, right. I think a Nance Mow is my 11x Great Grandmother. I traced my family tree from my maternal grandmother's line all the way back to Nance who married Andrew Young and had William Young (10x GGrandfather). I'm not sure if you have any information about her?
