Cannot find any Peter in 1841 with any of those surnames (or anything close!)

Annette,

Perhaps the one reason, other than the spelling of the surname, I suggested those names in 1841 is that the occupation of Edwin is given as "cutlery caster"

From IGI

Richard Dawson, birth, 25 Dec 1820, Lockwood, Yorkshire.

Father Joseph Dawson
Mother Elizabeth

Take the rest with a pinch of imagination!!

Joseph Dawson, christened 01/Jan/1785, Almondsbury
Father Benjamin Dawson

Elizabeth (b 1786) would have been 49 when John was born - possible, but for a bit of scandal on no evidence, how about

John Dawson, Christened 14 Jun 1835, Kirkburton (about 4 miles from Lockwood) mother Eliza Anne Dawson

Annette,

Surely, if you've got Edwin in 1841, you've got his parents?

??? Evan and Mary Hydes or is that a different family?

As far as I can see, neither is in the 1881 census.

There is an Edwin Hydes, 1827, copper engraver, wife Mary who is living in Ecclesall, Sheffield.

If "Francis" is Emily's mother then F must have married after 1901 (and E born after 1901) because I can't find that combination.

I always thought Francis with an "I" was male and with "E" female - ah well.
