Bit of a long shot ... but am looking for the bapt. of William Simpson b. circa 1797 and that of Elizabeth Simpson b. circa 1800.  Father's name is Robert.

Thanks conahy.  That's interesting.  I thought they would have been too poor for a boarding school but obviously not.  Thanks again.  Alison

Not really sure which Irish board to put this on.

My gt-aunt married a man born in Newry (Louis Fenelon) and he's living there on the 1901 census aged 2; by 1911 his mother had been widowed and re-married and is living in Dublin.  Two of her children though are at school in Mountrath - which seems a long way from Dublin.  Would there be any particular reason for this?

When researching my Irish ancestors I came across this very useful website and thought it worth posting as many men mentioned are ex-RIC

Gloucestershire / Re: Workhouse records ~ Eastville Workhouse

Thanks Kay - that's helpful.  I don't think its worth paying a researcher now as I doubt the Creed Register would tell me much more than I know already.  Thanks for your help.

Gloucestershire / Workhouse records ~ Eastville Workhouse
« on: Thursday 01 August 13 16:09 BST (UK)  »
Bristol Record Office have just confirmed that my ancestor is mentioned in the Creed Register of Eastville Workhouse.  They've given me some brief details (dob, date admitted) but are unable to provide more info. as they do not offer a research service.

My questions are:
- what is a Creed Register?
- is it worth me paying someone to undertake a search of the Creed and/or other records / is there more to be found in this register

My ancestor seems to be missing on the 1911census (I think she probably emigrated); but I'd like to know how long her son stayed at Eastville.

Thanks for letting me know - I though the West Ham marriage looked good and was going to order it tomorrow.

I found Edwin and he was living in an Orphanage.  I've also been tracking down all Amy's aunts/uncles/cousins in case she appears with them but so far no luck.

Thank you Carole.  I don't think the census entry is my Amy as she's married to someone called Bryant but the other two records are possible and I will follow up with those.  Many thanks
