This seems to be Ballinaboe in Census 1901 in Rooskey, Straid

Daniel Doherty married Ellen Harkin on 22 Feb 1897

Thanks everybody for all that help. I can see that John & Cecily had a daughter Cecily born on 5 Aug 1871. So maybe she was his daughter.

No I don't think that is in Culdaff parish. I'm hoping somebody from the area will have some knowledge of the family.

I'm wondering if anybody here is familiar with the family of John Doherty and Cecily McDade. They married in 1840 in Culdaff and had children born in Ballinabo. John born 1848 is first one I found. He emigrated to New York and died in Brooklyn in 1910. I have found the other children born in Ballinabo, but I hope somebody might know some cousins or descendants. He was related to a Cecily (or Cecelia) Doherty born about 1869, but not sure how. She also emigrated to Brooklyn and married an Edward Lafferty, who may also have been from Donegal. There is a Cecily born 1869 in Barrawalla? or Moneydarragh and this might be her. So many Dohertys.

Thanks for those names and links. They don't seem to have named any child Timothy after Catherine's father. There is another magic way you can find relatives. That is by doing your DNA. Have you thought about that all all? I have found it very useful.

Hi, can you tell us a bit more about the family from what you know. What names did they give their chldren? or you say the Brosnans were a big family - what other names do you know in that family. This will give us help in locating the correct family. There is more than one are known as Ballybeg in Kerry.

Here is James Mahony's birth registered in Kilmallock in 1882.
I can't find them anywhere in the region in the census returns for 1901 or 1911.

Yes I have tried all options. I'm thinking maybe the records fro Charleville are missing for that year. So I'm just hoping maybe some other Vaughan or Mahony families might recognise the family. Is there still an area known as Newtownmaxwell. Its in 1901 census, but not in 1911
