their son George Nelson Grant was born Oct 1841 (he was my gt grandfather)

I wonder if there were any other children apart from George Nelson Grant?

Euphemia Grant (nee Nelson) was widowed do not know when, but she remarried in 1861 to JAMES MARTIN (widower) and they lived at Blacket St. St Cuthberts, they had a son Robert born 1862, he married Helen MacKenzie 1887, did they have children??

In 1881 (census) Effie Grant, dau of George Nelson Grant, was living with her g.mother Euphemia Martin (nee Grant)
Effie & her brothers  &
sister were born in Derby, but by 1881, they appeared to have  been split up.

Any info would be appreciated, thank you

I have found these two on the BRVI but with a spelling variation. Looks as though it could be your family though. Regards, Frances

Thank you Frances again,
I did wonder about the spelling concerning Nelson was it that or Nielson, on the parish record of the marriage (which I obtained from Edinburgh Scotland) Euphemia is given as Nelson & her father, however, on her second marriage the name is changed to Nielson, so I have wondered if perhaps the name was written down the way it may have sounded (perhaps they could not read and would not have known?)
The spelling Nelson, has been used in our family, both as a first & middle name, my late brother was Alfred NELSON
my late uncle first name Nelson, his son was also named Nelson, so I expect both spellings can be used re Euphemia?

George Nelson Grant (my gt grandfather) has the spelling as Nelson on his marriage certs (he married more than once) also on his death cert and on the various census.
As for John Peter Grant, I do not know anything about him? so wonder, did he survive? I do not recall ever hearing him mentioned, so perhaps not

Thanks again for your help, Maud
