Missing Marriage in Llangynider

I am trying to trace a marriage between Thomas Jones and Mary Ann Gardner (could possibly be Gardiner/Gardener).

I have tried to search the indexes without success.

I know that in 1891 they appear on the census in  Llangynider Breconshire but the census indicates the Administrative county as Monmouth.

On that census their first child Thomas J was born about 1889 in Breconshire, however I know that Edward (b 1884 in the same area) who also appears on the census was born before they married and was illegitimate.

I am therefore assuming the marriage took place between 1884 and 1889, but cannot find any reference in this time period to the marriage.

Can any one advise a possible course of further research or possibly help with an indication of churches they may have married in whilst living in the area.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.
