I am currently sifting through reams of Smiths!
There is this..... whether they are the right people or not is a different story.

Buck Street, Halesowen, Worcs.

William Smith    Head     29     Furnace Stoker
Rachel Smith     Wife      31
William Smith    son        8

There's a Geoffory COLLETT aged 10 in 1901. Son of Joseph (Market Gardener) and Ann. They are in Charlton, Worcestershire.

John

A local newspaper may have published a death announcement/obituary- that could give details of other family members, etc.

1901 census RG13 2780 folio 11
Bulls? Walk Worcester  Worcestershire
Fanny Smith 32  Worcester, Worcestershire,  Head Married No occupation
Joseph Smith 4  Worcester, Worcestershire, Son
Lizzie Smith 8 weeks  Worcester, Worcestershire,  Daughter

Unfortunately there is no husband with Fanny.

On FreeBMD a William Smith married in the March quarter of 1896 in Worcester volume 6c 303 (a few William Smiths married in Worcester  around this time so this is no big deal). When you cross reference the other names at this volume and page reference you find one of the woman's names is missing. Checking Fannys who married in the same quarter in Worcester you find Fanny Holland Volume 6c page 803 all on her own so possibly misindexed.
On the 1891 census a Fanny Holland born circa 1870 is staying with her cousins in Worcester. On the 1871 census there is a two year old Fanny Holland in Worcester with her family staying with the family of John R. Smith.

All a bit tenuous I know but perhaps an interesting lead.

Valda

Just had a look at the original image of the marriage index for Fanny Holland and it could well be page 303.

See what you think.

You can take the risk on ordering a Joseph Smith birth certificate

September Quarter 1898 Worcester Volume 6c page 302

If you order from the GRO you can stipulate that the father's name must be William. That way if it isn't you don't get the certificate and they charge you a search fee which is about half the price of the certificate.
Even if the father's name is William (and hopefully the mother is Fanny) it doesn't prove that this is the right Joseph but it may help if the occupation is similar to that given on your Joseph's marriage certificate.

How would I get copy of the 1871 and 1891 census

Valda  I will  take the risk on ordering a Joseph Smith birth certificate.

Like you have said  it doesn't prove that this is the right Joseph but it may help if the occupation is similar to that on Joseph's marriage certificate.

Iwas hoping to find information about the workhouse in wocester where he worked as that might have details of staff there?

His death was in the paper section of deaths but just said hid daughter and my gran.

On his death cert it said he was a retired maintenance forman so after the workhouse he went on to do other kind of work  Not sure what a maintenance forman job would do
maybe in a factory.  I could try finding about workers there
so many factorys have closed in Worcester  though.

I do not think I am ever going to be sure its him, I am just not good at excepting that .

Thank you all for the help you have posted to me
