Problem with PM.

I really do not have a lot more than this.

The next document that I have is date 1895 when the properties were sold by Hannah Wallbank, Fell Lane, Keighley, Widow to John William Smith, The Fold who is stated to be a grocer. It states that the dwellings were unoccupied.

The next sale shows the property to be a dwelling house, a shop and a warehouse.

From my reading of the 1814 document the sale included the three cottages and some land for £191.00 The 1895 transaction appears to be only the cottages for £42.00

Obviously there were sales of land / cottages between 1814 and 1895, or HW kept the land (unlikely).

Hope this helps

John William Smith born 1873  is part of my direct Smith family as he was the son of Sarah Ann Smith
who later married Eli Riley on 7 Aug 1880 at Christ Church, Lothersdale.  She was the sister of my great grandfather Henry Smith.

Must have a look to find out more about Hannah Wallbank on Ken Hartley's website The Hartley/Wallbanks of Craven:-
http://www.tribalpages.com/family-tree/klondyke49

I will now look through the Thornton In Craven Parish Registers for the Joseph Smith you mention in your original posting.

Thanks very much!

Hello,

I too have Smiths from Lothersdale on my family tree but I can't find mention of these in anyone's post. I have a David Smith b.1815 who marries Elizabeth Harley and they have the following children: -
Henry Smith B.1836 Lothersdale, John Smith b. 1838 Cowling, Peter Smith B. 1840 b.Cowling, Heaton Smith b.1842 Cowling, William Smith b.1844 Cowling, Frederick Smith b.1847 Cowling, Septimus Smith b.1849 Lothersdale, Jane Smith b.1852 Lothersdale, Martha Smith b.1854 Lothersdale, Annie Smith b.1860 Lothersdale

Elizabeth Harley's sister Alice also marries a Smith - Heaton Smith born in Cowling and I wondered if they were brothers. They have the following children for them; -
John Smith b.1855 and Jane Smith b.1857

I thought that it was probable that at least David Smith's parents had been John Smith b.1871 and Martha Cowgill b.1782.

Does anyone have any information about any of the above? I'd be delighted to learn some more. Thanks
