Yes i have plenty of information.

Sweeney Henry Faulkner was my Grandfather and
was born 11th October 1892 in Axbridge.
His parents were James Gordinson Faulkner and Georginna(formally Woolf.
James at the monent i firmily believe was an immigrant although i do not
have any record to show that.
James occupation at the time of my grandfather's birth states that he was
Seaman,steward.(from birth certificate.
Both Great grandparents are buried in Axbridge churchyard.
She died on 13th June 1925 age 64. Born in Axbridge 1861.
He died on 3rd August age 78yrs.

My Grandfather died 2nd April 1966 age 73yrs and is buried in
Milton Cemertary Weston-super-Mare.

My Grandmother Lillian Elsie Faulkner died on 3rd Feb 1985 and
was cremated on 8th Feb 1985.
She was born on i think 15th July(stswithuns day i do know) 1897.
Married in July 1915 i believe in Axbridge.

My Father James Dennis Sweeney Faulkner was born on the
8th February 1916. Sadly he passed away on  3rd Feb 1946
an illness he got from serving in the Army. He to buried in Milton Cematery.
With an war headstone.

My grandparents had 6 children. There names are
Joan, Betty. Barbara(twins), Peggy,June and my father.
I do know Peggy and Barbara are buried together next to
My Father

Do you have any photo,s of my grandparents?
It would be interesting to know what country James Gordinson Faulkner
came from.
I do have other info on the rossiters.
Are you remotely related to the above.

Keith

Hi Keith,

Many thanks for that.

Sorry to say that the program I am using only appears to store text and as it is I don't have any photographs to store.

I do descend from the Somerset Rossiters on my Mother's side but as far as I know we are not related.

Did a quick check on James Gordinson Faulkner but could only find a marriage to Georgianna in the Barton Regis Registration District in the JUNE Qtr of 1885.

Was unable to find a birth record which might confirm your belief that he was an immigrant.

Gordinson is an unusual name and I'm wondering if, as it has been the case in Rossiter families,  that it is the maiden name of his mother or a family name.

If he was an immigrant he may have naturalisation papers which could help you.

His wedding certificate should give his age at the time of the marriage and may even give his father's name and place of birth.

His death certificate could be helpful too to give you a starting point to investigate from.

Another possibility is to think laterally by contacting the descendants of Lilian's siblings to see if they have any useful information.

Ada Theresa  married John S Davis but I don't know if they have descendants,

Cecil Denny Rossiter married Florence M Bowen in 1914 and they had at least 2 children but I don't know what happened to them.

I also have brother Louis James but only as a single person.

However, you will know better than me if there are descendants or other family sources which you can consult.

Hope that this helps.

Best wishes rcuser

Thanks for the info. Yes i did find out that they married in 1885 and i will eventually get
their marriage cert and his death cert.

I only found out where they were buried in Axbridge last month.

Cecil Rossiter and his wife are buried together with his parents.
The Rossiter family did reside in whitchurch,Berks for a while before
coming back to Somerset.
I believe Louis was married in 1919. I do know that he was
killed in gas works accident in Weston about 1938/39.
Do not know if they had any children.

Finally Cecil Denny Rossiter died Jan 16th 1975 age 71yrs
and Jessie Maud died on 4th Jan 1986 age 70yrs.
I just about read the inscriptions on the headstones.

John Denney Rossiter Died April 1894 age 64yrs.

If i have any more info i will let you know

Thanks
Keith

Hi,

Thanks for that.

Another idea to find out James's birthplace is to find him in the 1911 Census or earlier censuses.. I have found Georgina but not James so far.

I did find another child for Lilian; Sybil born and died in June Qtr 1925.

I'll keep digging and let you know if I find anything further.

Best wishes, rcuser

Thanks,

I did look at the 1911 census. But they are all there in Axbridge except him.
Maybe he was at sea at the time.

The 1911 census did reveal the Rossiters having another child and
was recorded as died. So thanks for the name.

Just in case you are interested James Denney married Ethel Georgina
formally Vowles.

I am not sure but i believe John Denney death was recorded in the
Bedminster district and maybe buried other than in Weston-super-mare.

Well thanks again for your leads and will pursue them.

Keith :)
