I have two Mellings born in the 1870's in Suez, on all the census their called "Bitish Subjects" where could I find their birth certs or would they have them.

Britsh Consluar Birth Indices 1871-1875

MELLING, Thomas Robson, Suez, Vol 5 Page 460

is the only one I can find.  I think you order certifcates from the GRO in the usual way but each index covers 5 years instead of a quarter.

I'd check on the GRO web page.

the other one was Kate Melling born aborn about 1869.

Could you check for the parents marriage too if its there John Melling and Elizabeth ? about 1867 in Suez.

I was just about to tell Sharon that I didn't think that overseas marriages were registered in the same was as births

Must look into this as I registered my kids' births with the British Embassy in order to establish nationality but never did anything about my marriage.
