Hello WillowWah

I now have all the pictures, didnt know there were so many as only 3 came through on to my email. My daughter bought them home at lunch time, all done on photgraphic paper. They look supurb. I wish Rootchatters could  see them. They are now in my family tree album waitng for the day I produce my book. Lovely old church and a pity to see the cemetery desecrated like it is. Also those photos taken from inside the church That is history in itself

I feel like saying thank you  is not enough. They mean alot to me.
I will say it again with all sincerity
Regards

hi dianne

Incase you are still researching
I must apologise in the delay of several months
but after dads heart attack he followed it with a stroke a month later and several other illnesses

I became his carer so he could still stay at home independent

However on 16th Aug he passed away at home with a heart attack

Whilst organising the funeral i had an ooportunity to look in the registers for burials, the grave digger there is a lovely man

This is the grave yard on the Boston Rd Horncastle, burials were made there from 1896

I found some veaseys

and some Vesseys

Sarah Vessey  8- June-1913
Eliza   Vessey 29-June-1923

hope these are of help

Hello Sue 1950

Sorry for not answering you earlier but as you will read I have been tripping around overseas. Britain U.S.A Canada & Egypt and a cruise down the Nile.

Willowah has been of great help to me and took a photograph of my 3 x great grandfather's grave at St Marys Cemetery 1878 and a photo of the church and  recently found two more names of great Aunts from the Boston Road Cemetery.

Getting the photos was probably one of the highlights of my research, much  more than  the purchase of a  sent Certificate with an added name.

I have at least 20 VESSEY ancestors in these graveyards but Willowah says that alot  of the gravestones have been demolished and St Marys is now an antique shop. My grandparents  Vessey had a family of 12 children all christened married and buried in Horncastle.I am lucky in having an unusual name. Makes research a lot easier. The two recent names that Willowah sent of the two unmarried sisters Sarah born 1856-1923 and Eliza 1845 -1923 both were still living at 15 Stanhope Rd. address when they died, the home that their parents had purchased in  1838.

Thank you for your kind offer -Oh to live in Horncastle where I could get my hands on more information.

From the other side of the world

Hello Sue 1950

It is terrible trying to settledown after a holiday. everything is flat. I was on an escorted Bus trip around Britain and  alas,we didnt go anywhere near Lincolnshire. My sister, who I went with would think it was all   a terrible bore looking into genealogy. I am afraid she dosnt share my interest.

I would love you to pop around sometime  if you could and see if 15 Stanhope Rd is still standing.Probably by now has made way for new Bldgs. What sort of a house was it. It could give me an insite into there status in life?????. I know that sounds awful but  little tit bits like that,   does tell me what there lives were like in those days.and when working on the VESSEY tree  builds up a picture in mind about them. William Vessey my Gt Gt Gt grandfather was a Malster, ie ;worked in a brewery. Do you know of any local brewerys that he could have worked in.?

Bye for now and thank you for your interest.
