Hi

This is not quite a photo but an unreadable census image for another Rootschatter. It is the Else family we are trying to read. Please can you help make it legible?

Thanks

Jane

Hi Jane,
I've had a go but there just isn't anything there to enhance  :-\  What I mean is the lines of the writing are broken up and in the breaks is nothing so no amount of enhancement will bring it out....at least not for me - some clever-clogs will no doubt come along and prove me wrong!  ;D

Yes, there doesn't seem to be anything much to get out of this.

I've tried everything I can think of; histogram adjustment, multiplying layers, overlay painting, negative image enhancement, and nothing really works.

There is a possibilty that it says something like

John  Else           57            Stock*****
Sarah  do                 57
***** do            27
***** do                 25
Ann     do                 18
Sarah  do                  3

Its definitely four females and two males, and the wife looks very much like Sarah, as does the youngest daughter, and the ages I am reasonably sure of, but the other names are just the best I can match to what I can see. The heads occupation looks like it may start with "Stock" but I can't decipher the rest (Stock Agent perhaps?)

Thats all I can get

Sorry

Glen

Hallo, Jane

If you could provide the reference number, district, folio and page number from the census it might be the case that someone can track a clearer image.

Even if you just know the census date, the town and one name it might be possible.

Good luck
Philip

Hi

Thanks for trying. I will put this as complete and go back to the Nottm board to see if they have a better image.
