Hi John
1861 doesn't give the 'relationship to head of house' but according to the 1851 enumerator instructions (they are basically the same layout) a household included anyone that 'had a bed' in that home and were to be listed in the following order; Head, Wife, unmarried children in order of age, married children and families, other family, lodgers and their families, servants, other members of household.

bottom of page - 1951 Enumerator Instructions - Original - page 13

Here is your Padget family in 1861
Film C-1050, 1861, Canada, Ontario, Middlesex, Lobo, Division 1, page 39
Info listed as follows:
Name, Occupation, Place of Birth, Religion, Age

George Padget      Labourer   England       EC      45
Margaret Padget                       do                 do       34
Henry Padget         do               do                 do       19
William Padget      do                do                 do       17
Mary Padget                              do                 do       12
John Padget           do               do                 do         8
George Padget       Labourer-u Canada         do         5

According to the ages of the last two children and place born that would put their immigration between abt 1853 and 1856
Hope this helps unravel your mystery :)
~Denise

Well done, Denise!...and now that we know there is no sign of George on the 1871 or beyond...one can assume he emigrated before that census...

This family doesn't show up for me in the 1880 U.S....none say born England & Young George must not state that he was born in Canada, either?
