By the way

Can I be a pain and ask for a 1841 check on William and Louisa Vincent.

William born 1810 Keymer
Louisa born 1814 Slaugham
Louisa born 1835 Cuckfield
William born 1839 Cuckfield

I thought I had the details of their 1841 but it was 1851 I asked for sometime ago.  They were at Millfields in 1851 which is in Broxmead Lane.

thank you

Kerry  ;D ;D

Chris

Thanks for that, interesting I have details (from where I can't remember) of twins born 1842, obviously they were born 1841 and I think it was Edward and Edmund although I haven't been able to confirm that yet.

Thanks again

Kerryb

Hi and welcome,
Assuming from their birth dates that they married after 1837 then you can look on www.freebmd.org.uk   With luck there won't be too many Vincents so it will be obvious which they are.  Finding them in the 1851 census might show a wife which would help.
Cuckfield is a large registration area so if they show there it does not make it clear which village they married in so you might need to buy the certificate for full details.  If it happens to be in Holy Trinity Cuckfield then I can look that up in the register for you.

As yet I can't find anything for John.  Are you sure he survived?     There is a possible Joseph in Brighton in 1861, though the age is not quite right, and he is married to a Jane.  Possible marriage in Brighton in 1852 to Jane Chatfield.
Have now checked in the Holy Trinity, Cuckfield burials and John died young.  Buried 22 Feb 1823 age 1yr 2 months  son of James, labourer and Sarah.   Also spotted a Martha age 5 months buried on 11 Nov 1825.

Also saw two later burials for young children.  Ann and Richard.  It did not specify parents but they would fill in the gap between those who survived.  Just for any future researchers. Sarah Vincent died age 59 and was buried 3 May 1847 and James Vincent was 66 and buried 21 Feb 1850.

First of all, thank you very much for all your help. Just being alerted to the post-1837 Web site is a big help. I don't know if Joseph or John survived, so it may be a shot in the dark.

You will see from my earlier posts that John died but Joseph seems to be alive and kicking in 1861 - you would need the marriage certificate to be sure he is the right one though.
