1841 Census
« on: Friday 17 March 06 21:39 GMT (UK) »
Hello

Looking at other censuses it could be that my ancestor was born in Brackenhirst, it is proving hard to establish exactly what they do say.

Counties that have been searched are: Gloucestershire (for Brockworth) and Hampshire (for Brockenhurst).

Is there anyone that is able, and would do so for me, to check the 1841 census perhaps for this area.  Details are very sparse but here they are -

Maria Lewis aged about 28/30 living with a Henry
old enough to be her father.

Thanks in anticipation
Ewan

Sorry, no trace in either The Barony Index or the Glasgow City index for 1841

Thank you Falkyrn for taking the time to look for me for this now very elusive ancestor.  That now rules out the Brackenhirst in Lanarkshire, back to the drawing board for this one.

Just a quick question what is the Barony Index please?

Hi Ewan,

Brackenhirst in Lanarkshire, I think would come under either Old or New Monkland, the 1841 census for Barony or Glasgow City won't cover this area.

Hello Capricorn, Leo here :)

Well, that has brightened my morning a little bit, I am not familiar with Scotland or its places at all.  So if you say Brackenhirst comes under Old or New Monkland who am I to argue.

I will post a new message asking for help in searching these areas.

Many thanks for that information.

I don't have any access to records for 1841 for lanarkshire County although I have checked the 1851 with No trace of Maria at all.

Hello Falkyrn

Thanks again for looking, Maria was married in 1843 in England, her husband to be was living with his first wife in 1841 also in England.  I do have her on the 1851, 1861 and 1871 censuses.  Just cannot locate her in 1841.

I will post a message for help in searching the Lanarkshire County.

Many thanks
Ewan
