1841 Census for Susannah Poulton
« on: Tuesday 21 March 06 23:12 GMT (UK) »
I seeking Susannah Poulton born 1788 flore Northants, married John Poulton 9th Nov 1812 Flore, Northants.
There is no trace at all in Northants, no children, no deaths. no nothing!
but i have come across the following in the 1851 census
Church Street, Town Yard, Ampthill.
Susannah Poulton aged 61 Widow, Almshousewoman (Sevant) Born Ampthill.
would like to either prove this is my Susannah or rule her out if they can be found in the 1841 Census.

That Susannah was born in Ampthill though.

Have a look at the POULTONs on the Beds Archives site:

It may be John was a soldier and they moved about a bit ... worth trying the UK National Archives but I had a look and could find nothing for John POULTON in that time frame.

We dont know her maiden name but there seems to be no marriage for her in Ampthill [a Susannah ---- with a ---- POULTON]

Bedfordshire: Worker [Flitton]; Ames [Kempston]; Manton [Kempston]; Morris [?]; Valentine [Kempston]; Two & Osborn [Cranfield]

Herfordshire and West London: Brown [Kent in early 19th C]; Blackwell.
McCarthy [Clonakilty, County Cork - searching for needles in the haystack!] and LOSTY [Dublin]

He maiden name was Markie.
I know this Susannah Poulton was born in Ampthill, But you know what people are like they never did tell the truth ! Well my lot didnt always, Her nephew mostly lied about where he was born.
But it is the only one i have come across, unless they both died young. !
