advice how to get rid of scratches tears

I am working on this picture of my grandad. I have managed to clone out some nasty tears, but I do not know how to delete, fix the tear over the face.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Once I have completed one I can do others.

Hi Joy.

One way is to make a copy then click on 'Image' select 'Rotate Image' select again 'Fip Canvas Horizontal'

now you have a mirror image of your original and you can
clone the undamaged side of the head onto your original
then shade to suite/match the lighting, which in your case
is from the subjects left, so shadows are on their right side.

Yes! it will work, not perfect but best you can expect, if

I will upload the picture, but first how do i make a copy. Where do i go in the menue
Second part you said clone the undamaged area onto the good part, am I doing this on the copy?
Not really clear what to do but at least I am trying.
Now i will find the pic and upload the picture before bed

Joy.

Right click on the blue section of the open image and select
'duplicate'........you now have a copy to work with, so flip
this image and clone the good side onto the original.

The pic has not uploaded yet!.
