Thanks Dawn

Didn't realise there was one.  I'm meeting one of Edith's sisters next week for the first time (last remaining sibling) and will repost it there after I've spoken to her - hopefully she'll have some more info that'll help me and any one else.

Thanks again, Watch this space (or something much like it!!)

--- UPDATE ---
Having met my grandad's only surviving sibling I have found out that Edith married a Mr Collins.

They left for Canada around 1945. As Edith was born in 1927 and would only have been 18 in 1945 I am assuming the might have married in Canada.

Apparently they settled in Winipeg, had one daughter Gwen who married and had 4 children all of whose first names began with D.

Will postthis as suggested to Emigrants board as suggested by Dawn (& link)

Any help to trace still appreciated,

Thanks,
Mark

Hi, Mark...as you've likely seen by now, marriages in Canada are only available back 100 years. ( well, 99 1/2  as they say they haven't caught up...)  If you had a date, perhaps newspapers could be searched at the library archives...
Hope you get some feedback from the information I gave you...fingers crossed!
all the best,  J.J.

Oh, meant to say if you got any information about which section of Winnipeg they settled in...I can check out the Legions in that neighbourhood to see about a Collins...or you can email here to inquire about your Mr. Collins if they have his name on a list.

Tahnks again JJ,

Sorry for delay in reply. Due to a family death I've not been doing much on here lately. I will get round to checking out those sites as soon as I'm back in a better mind-space.

I'll keep you posted,

Cheers,
Mark

HI all,

Back on the trail again. So quick update

I have now found Edith's marriage.  ;D

Edith M Dale married Allen E Collins in Bournemouth, England in the first quarter of 1944. However still not sure when they left for Canada. Thinking maybe soon after wedding.

As yet I've had no luck in Canada searches / correspondence.  :(
I'm still chasing up info from Grandad's remaining sibling.
