Help needed WW1 D Company,12th Battalion, East Surrey Regiment
« on: Saturday 01 July 06 19:09 BST (UK) »
In today's Daily Telegraph there is an article asking for help to identify the author of a diary from WW1. The diary was in a box of books donated to the Bodleian Library in Oxford.

The diary has just been published and the Bodleian have narrowed down the possible authors to one of 14 privates wounded at Hollebeke on 5th August 1917:

JW Carter, F Clover, JH Cole, HJ Gardner, H Gibbs, N Haynes, G Kirby, A Manley, A Manville, J Millichamp, HM Muspratt, S Poulter, A Sargent and A Skinner.

The Bodelian would be grateful for information about these men and identity of the author.  The diarist would have been sent home after the field hospital.

Any information to weekend@telegraph.co.uk or to Unknown Soldier, The Daily Telegraph, 1 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London E14 5DT.
