Thanks for the two replies sustev.  Yes,  I am still looking for Sarah Alsope/Allisoppe's parents.   I did a check on familysearch and found both your suggestions, so was none the wiser.  I also checked on A*******  and found that among the hints  both baptismal suggestions were listed.
Earl Sterndale and Monyash both seem a reasonable distance from Hartington so both are possible. Both baptismal dates seem likely.

Quick question - why are the Hartington baptisms you gave me out by about 10 years?

On another matter I have had some luck tracking Robert Oliver's parents, the maternal line via the Salt and Bateman families.

Thanks for all the help so far - much appreciated.

Well, I meant that 1751 and 1756 were too early for a suggested birth of 1769.

I'd be tempted to go for the Earl Sterndale one in 1770 and details of the parents' marriage - there is no marriage at E S but there is one at Hartington:

Thos ALSOPE of Hartington (signed) md Anne WARDLE of Hartington (signed) on (no date) 1757 by Licence, wit. Joseph Gould/Isaac Goodwin (blank where they should sign).
