Lookup for Broome family in Birmingham
« on: Saturday 30 October 04 05:03 BST (UK) »
Hi. I am looking for George Broome. I have located him in the 1891 and 1881 censuses. He was 37 years old in 1891. I would like to find his parents' names. George's children were Frederick, Harold, Selena, and George.  George's wife's name was Anna Sophia Frankish, whose father was William Berry Frankish. Her mother's name was Susan Ann (?). If anyone has access to an 1861 census, I would love to know George Broome's parents' names. Thanks!

Hi Dave,
I think that this is your George on the 1871 census.

Back of 64 Soho Rd. Birmingham
George Broome      H  46  Gardener             Warks, Birmingham
Eliza Broome          W  45 Paper Box Mkr.     Warks, Birmingham
GEORGE BROOME   S   17 Jewlers Asst         Warks, Birmingham
Mary A. Broome      D   14  Paper Box Mkr.    Staffs, Handsworth
Elizabeth Broome   D     9                              Staffs, Handsworth
Louise Broome       D     5                               Staffs, Handsworth
RG10/3131  Folio 90  Page 19

I can't find any other George Broomes in Birmingham of the right age so I think this one is right.

I also found on IGI George Broome married Eliza Mousley 3 Oct. 1848 All Saints, Birmingham.

I couldn't find a birth entry on BMD for George Jr. You would need to find that in order to verify that George and Eliza are his Ma and Pa. :)

Hope that helps,
India in  sunny California

I'm also interested in the 1841 census. George Broome would have been about 15 at the time. He was born about 1826 in Worcestershire, I believe, but was living in Birmingham.
