George Davies 1851 Blackburn lookup please
« on: Sunday 31 October 04 01:34 GMT (UK) »
   :(

Please can I ask for a lookup for the 1851 census for Blackburn.
I cannot find where George Davies was born, he married Catherine Sharples at St Mary's the Virgin Cathedral in March 1852. I ordered the Marriage Certificate but said resident of Blackburn with no place of Birth. If there is anyone who knows the area, I am pressuming they lived not too far away from where they married. This is a request for help because I cannot move on until I find where his place of Birth is. He would have been approx 22 years old and Catherine about 20-21 years.
This is very much appreciated.
Thanking you, best wishes.
Pat, in Oz
My best wishes,
Pat.

Hi Marie,
Yes, George's Father was John Davies, and Catherines Father was Thomas Sharples.
I hope this fits. Thank you for your reply.
Best wishes.
Pat.

hi pat
don't know if you've already found this but Catherine Sharples was Christened on the 20 June 1830 at St Mary The Virgin Blackburn.  Father Thomas Slater mother Catherine.  Have you found George Davies on any census?  And does it give addresses or occupations on the cert?
Marie

Hi Marie,
No I have never found George on any census records, I did manage to get his Marriage certificate for 1852 to Catherine.
It just says Blackburn as residence, there is no address.
George's Father was a Butcher, his Mother's name was Catherine or Katherine Brown.
On the subject of Catherine Sharples, does it mean that she was iligitimat if her Father's name was Thomas Slater?
The only other thing we have from George's second Marriage  is that he was born in Gloucester. That is why I thought I would ask on this list.
Thank you for your kindness Maria, it is much appreciated.
My best wishes.
Pat.

Pat.

Sorry Maria,
I did not see your last message, sorry about that.
Catherine died in 1854 in Australia. George remarried 8 years later so that is why I am trying to find his place of Birth.
I am having a few problems with this web page so please excuse me for now.
Thank you so much.
Best wishes.
Pat.
