1861 Census Norfolk
« on: Thursday 04 November 04 12:50 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help?

I'm looking for Elijah Cox/Cocks b.1811 South Lopham, Norfolk.

In 1851 and 1881 Census he is at Low Common, Guiltcross, South Lopham, Norfolk - so presumably he is still there in 1861.

I'm interested in who is with him.

And if anyone has access to that Vital Details Index (sorry, I don't know it's name) any information on Elijah birth or marriage would be appreciated.  I have found a marriage of Elijah Cocks to a Frances Read 8 November 1825 in South Lopham.  I think it's the correct one.  But any information gratefuly received.

Regards

KA

Well spotted Teddybear!

Perhaps marriage is the wrong one.

I've double checked.  His census ages give him a birth year of 1810.  However his death age gives him a birth year of 1805.  Perhaps Norfolk operates in a different time/space continum.

Hi,

I have just bought the 1861 census on cd and your Elijah is living with his daughter, Eliza (27) and grand daughter Anna Maria (11) on Low Common, S Lopham.  Elijah is 57 so it could be him you found!

Elijah is an Ag Lab, Eliza a dressmaker and Anna is at school.  All born S Lopham
