COOK Moville, Donegal
« on: Monday 18 September 06 12:47 BST (UK) »
I have a Samuel COOK/E born from what I can determine in Moville, Donegal.
Though his birth varies between 1865 and 1875, and his father is a Richard COOK
I have no idea where to start looking.

Is there anyone who can help point me in the right direction to find this man?

Any information greatly appreciated.

Thank you. ???

I grew up in Moville there was a Samuel Cook around in my time 1960's I dont know if it will be the same Cooks that you are looking for. This is the name and address of the local historian.   John Mc Laughlin.                                                               Carrowmenagh.   Carndonagh. Co.Donegal. Erie.   Hope this is of some help........

Thank you for your reply. my Samuel COOK is supposed to have gone to Scotland for five years, and sometime after that ended up in Australia.

Thank you for the address I will use that and see what comes out of that.
Thanks again it was greatly appreciated.

I believe the samuel cook you are talking about is my great great grandfather :)

I am currently researching my family history and would love to be able to know more about him. The only information I can find is that he was born in Moville, worked in Greenock and then was in the Australian Imperial Force in 1915 for 2 years. I got this from naa.gov.au.

He Married Mary Hannah (anna) Bevan in 1908 and had 6 children (richard, laura/laurel, elizabeth, ernest, ellen and doris).

What information do you have and how are you related?

The IGI (International Genealogical Index) lists a Samuel COOKE born 23 Mar.1865 Moville district, Co. Donegal, son of Richard Cooke and Ellen Kane (page 161 in civil register).
Other children of Richard and Ellen: Richard (1868), Ellen (1870), Annie (1873), Elizabeth (1875).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
