( Wales) 1901 Census Lookup Request Please For Gwilym George Hughes

Hi,

I am looking for information please about the siblings of Gwilym George Hughes born circa 1896 in Robeston, Wathen, Pembrokeshire.

I believe he was the child of John Rossiter (born circa 1876 in Tenby)  and Anne Hughes ( born circa 1875 in Narbeth)

His parents married in the June Qtr of 1901 but I believe they had a number of children before then and it is these children I am trying to trace.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

If this is Gwilym with grandparents -another puzzle
1871 Anthony Hughes is living with grandmother Sarah Rees widow and Sarah's 45 yr old daughter unmarried Margaret Edgell

1881 Anthony is married to Phebe and has children Margaretj, Thomas and Arthur-no mention of Ann???

1891
Anthony/Phebe have children Margaret 14, Anthony 9, John 5 and next door but 4 is Ann Hughes 16 Gen servant to William Williams and family

Many thanks for that. I don't require full census details thanks. This is definitely the right family.

Anne married John Rossiter in the June Qtr of 1901 but as far as I know Gwylim was one of three children born prior to that date. I wonder if Anne was already living elsewhere at this point hence no entry with her family.

Just noticed
1901 a few doors away from Antony and Phebe Hughes and family is
Anna Hughes servant 26 Cook Domestic b Rhydewellyn Pembroke
with Gustav and martha Scwartz

P.O.B. not same but as Gustav was b Germany he probably would have pronounced the name Anne as Anna???

Hi Suz,

Thanks again for that. It looks like Anne's children are living with her parents, while Anne goes out to work to raise some money.

So in the 1901 Census Gwylim and Anthony H are Anne's children. As far as I know she had three children before she married so I'm wondering if a third child was born but died before the 1901 Census. Is it possible to see if there is a death record please?

Have you any clues as to possible names???

It may be worth putting out a request for baptism records of children -mother Anne Hughes???

Thanks for that. Sorry but I don't have any names. I started this query to find them.

However, I am fairly certain that Gwylim had a brother born before 1896 and as we can't find him in the 1901 I'd surmise that he died during the intervening period.

I did find a marriage for Anthony Hughes & Phebe Davies in Narberth in the September Qtr of 1874. It's possible that Gwylim's older brother was a lot older.

Does that help at all?
