Can anyone tell me who Gypsie Joe Wilson was. His daughter was called Selena.
They were travelling show people who came from Lincoln (Mexborough)

Hi Dido

To help us try and find the correct family, do you have Selina on any census ie. 1881/1891/1901?

Do you know whom/when/where she married?

I have Selina Wilson on the Gateshead 1901. Her name, Lena Oneil aged 23 wife of Isaac Oneill. a Pedlar aged 23. Looks like she was married in Lincs as her 1st born Charles was born in Lincoln. I also noticed a John Oneil while browsing the Wilson site. Isaac was grandson to a John oneill b1810 c

Hi Dido

There is a marriage registration for a Selina WILSON with one of the two possible spouses being an Isaac O'NEIL in the December quarter of 1898 in the Stockton  http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/stockton.html registration district ref. 10a 157 see http://freebmd.rootsweb.com or http://www.ancestry.co.uk

Might that look like the correct marriage ???

If so, I would hope that the certificate would confirm her father's name and occupation.

The other two people with that reference number look to be an Elizabeth O'NEIL and   Richard ALLIS who obviously married in the same area at the same time - does the name ring any bells - just wondering if they would be relations perhaps?

Hi.
I really appreciate the help.
I'm sure this is The Selena I am looking for, the other names don't ring any bells :D

I have also just been told that she went back to her travelling roots around 1917 after meeting up with a John Foley. She may have reverted to her maiden name.

Thanx. Dido
