Hi, George Simons had a butchers shop in Station Road, Wheathampstead. The premises became T-Potts which was a sort of tea room run by the McIntyre Homes Charity.  Behind the shop was the house in which he and Mrs S lived; their front door was on the side of the building which was approached by an alley.  The alley carried on further into the yard, where there was the slaughter house. I believe this was the oldest slaughter house in Hertfordshire by the time it was demolished.
Going down W'stead High Street, past the old Titmuss flour mill, the next premises on the left is the old butcher's shop.

I googled "images for old photos wheathampsted"

Amongst the many returned is a photo "Simon's Butchers, Station Road"

Hello Jimothy,

Welcome to RootsChat :)

Sadly you have replied to a member (miss piggy) who we have sadly lost contact with, when this happens we do leave a little note underneath the users profile name.

Old members do pop up ever now and then, fingers crossed that this happens for Miss Piggy.

Regards

Sarah
