Hello Kate
Are you sure these two married each other???
I have searched for you, findings none of which name James Kelly as a possible spouse.
Surname  First name(s)    District  Vol  Page

~~~~~~~~
Marriages Jun 1872
~~~~~~~~

Crosby  Catherine    Chorlton  8c 929

~~~~~~~~
Marriages Jun 1873
~~~~~~~~

Crosby  Catherine     Prescott  8b 927

~~~~~~~~
Marriages Sep 1873
~~~~~~~~

CROSBY  Catherine     Sheffield  9c 725

~~~~~~~~
Marriages Sep 1875
~~~~~~~~

CROSBY  Catherine     W. Derby  8b 951

and there are 96 such entries for James Kelly for the same period none of which seem to name a possible spouse as Catherine Crosby.If you find a possible date i will look on 1837 web site for you.
good luck with your search.

Thank you for your response. Wow,this is hard to find. I do know that they had a set of twins born to them in 1874. At that time they were in the Channel Islands because he was stationed there. He was in the army.
I will keep searching----Thanks again and have a great day!!!    Kate
