SA Death Look-up - Hartshorne

Could someone please look up the death of Emma Hartshorne (nee Pickering) who died 29.12.1940 in South Australia. I would like to know the location where she died. here husband was John Thomas Hartshorne and her parents were Charles Pickering and Mary Ann Birch. She was born in the June quarter of 1855 in the Warwick District of Warwickshire, and christened on 6/5/1855 in Leamington Priors, Warwickshire. She came out to Australia on the 'Admiral Boxer' with her family, arriving on 21/8/1855. She had 5 elder siblings (William, Charles, John, Mary Ann & Tom) and had 4 children after she married.

Hi eramophla,

I see there is a record of a John T and an Emma along with Annie (I see your couple had a daughter Annie  ) buried together at Hindmarsh Cemetery. I see the family had connections with the Brompton, Hindmarsh area so it certainly does look likely.  There is a Photo available

I presume that death provided by OzyBob above is your John T's father as his wife Roseanna Sarah died same year at Brompton and a lot of marriages seem to have taken place in the same area.

Unfortunately deaths for that period are not yet readily available but are coming soon.

I saw the request re John Thomas Hartshorne and did some searching for information when I was at the South Australian State Library a few days ago.  I also did some further looking when I was in the Library today. The following is what I did find:-

BIRTHS.

1. Emma, Christened 6th May 1855 daughter of Charles Piciering and Mary Ann Birch at Saint Mary, Leamington Priors Warwick, England.


2. William Pickering Christened 24th June 1838 at Leamington Priors, Warwick England, son of Charles Pickering.

3. Charles Pickering Christened 23rd August 1840 at Saint Mary, Leamington Piors, Warwick England, son of Charles Pickering and Mary Ann Birch

MARRIAGE

John Thomas aged 22 years, single, son of John Thomas Hartshorne married 17th June 1880 to Emma aged 25 years, single, daughter of Charles Pickering at residence of J. Vardon, Hindmash, District Hindmash refeence book 123 page 1011.

CHILDREN BORN TO JOHN THOMAS HARTSHORNE AND EMMA PICKERING.

1. Edward Charles born 7th January 1882 at Hindmarsh, District Hindmash reference book 275 page 487

Harold Theodore Hartshorne aged 24 years, single, son of John Thomas Hartshorne married 21st November 1908 to Florence Emma aged 26 years, single, daughter of Vughan Jagoe at residence of Reverend T. Hope, Hindmash District Hindmarsh refernce book 237 page 464 symbol 'X' denoting the Registar has found a cross reference in this information  i.e. Harold Theodore also called himself Harold Theodore Hope.

I did not have time to find children to Harold Theodore and Florence.

MARRIAGE

George Hartshorne aged 32 years, single son of John Thomas Hartshorne married 4th Setpember 1922 to Mary Sullivan, aged 27 years single, daughter of William Sullivan at Norwood, District Norwood reference book 292 page 604

CHILD BORN TO GEORGE HARTSHORNE AND MARY SULLIVAN.

1 Pauline born 29th Setpember 1925 at West Hindmash, District Hindmash   reference book 161 page 231 symbol 'A' denoting (The Registrar has made an amendment to the information on this birth record and/or (2) The Registar has included additional information on this birth record.

DEATH

Emma aged 85 years of New Hindmarsh died 29th December 1940 at New Hindmarsh, District Hindmarsh, widow of John thomas Hartshorne, reference book 632 page 153
