ID of mansion around Liverpool or Bolton

I am trying to identify a large residential building or mansion from an old photograph, and wonder whether any knowledgeable folk from the Liverpool and Bolton areas might be able to help, please.

The photograph is a carte de visite (cdv), unfortunately without photographer's details, but comes from an album containing similar cdvs predominantly from the 1860s and 1870s, and mainly from studios in Liverpool and Bolton.  I would estimate that this particular photo, shown below, was taken around 1865-1870.

Only two of the photos in the album have captions indicating who the subjects were, with the surnames SHALLCROSS (Liverpool) and BRIMELOW (Bolton) and I have done some research through the census records to outline the family structure.  There is also what looks like a miniature business card with the name "W.P. Roberts."

I'd be grateful for any help in identifying the building.  Many thanks.

Its a database of houses that you can search. Also if you google mansion houses in lancashire you will get lots of sites to look at. Good luck.

I also tried googling both names + lancashire - again lots of hits. I think there is also someone else on this site researching those names - try the search box at the top of the page.

Hi "Liverpool Lass" and thank you very much for your posting.  I had already discovered the other SHALLCROSS-BRIMELOW researcher, and have sent him a PM.  Hopefully I'll hear from him soon.  I will also check out the web site you have suggested, and will report back if I find anything interesting.  Your help is much appreciated.
