Hi

Does anyone know if there is still a place in Cullyhanna called Mackins farm, it was located in Mackins Hill, Cullyhanna?

Hi Corky,

I've just posted a link on the Co. Armagh resources board about a book by Michael McShane called "Tombstone Inscriptions of Creggan Parish" St. Patrick's Cemetery, Cullyhanna, Co Armagh. I mentioned the libraries that have the book on their shelves. The book was published by the Creggan History Society. There's a message board on their website but I feel it might be better to try making contact with the History Society to see if one of their members knows of Mackin's Farm.

Cullyhanna is in the Castleblayney poor law union, Creggan, Co. Armagh.

According to "Irish Ancestors" Macken was one of the most popular names in the area with a total of 39 households in Creggan giving that name.

Interestingly and possibly confusingly there are two other placenames in Castleblayney called Cullyanna Big and Cullyanna Little (with no H).

Just checking on Origins and find that Cullyhanna Big and Little are spelt with a H.

Here's the link to great grandfather Terence (born about 1857) The date of his emigration to England isn't given .... Mackin Family
