Hello Foxy,

I accidently surfed upon your reference to a "CADLE" family in RSA.

My neighbour is a Grand-daughter of  -

Johan John Jurgens ROSS b23 Dec 1863 and Elizabeth Elzie Susannah CADLE b26 Sep 1867 both born in Graaf Reinett, RSA:

They married c1890 and their off-spring included her mother -

Elizabeth Cadle ROSS b23 Mar 1909 Harrismith  RSA

Could these be descendants of the impoverished family in your posting?

Regards

could well be the same family. Im not particulary familiar with the Cadle descendents because they are not my direct line but I know of several people who are...including  Derek  in Australia.

If you go to my website on Sarah Hornblows Children there is a link to him and other Cadle descendents at the foot of the page. There are also several Cadle page there that list the 3 trees which I know of , there are udoubatbly more so far unresearched.
www.geocities.com/sarahs_children/index.

Take a look at the  page of family faces....behind the owl on the home page.

There is a Cadle Book which I think Derek has and that lists the whole family.
good hunting
