Pontypridd eistedffordeau
« on: Thursday 11 November 04 23:35 GMT (UK) »
I have some informaton about the Rhondda Glee Society. It says that a W. Morgan [HARPIST] played a concert for them in Shire Hall. They also say that W.Morgan won many premier honours in Pontypridd Eistedffordeau. Would like to know if possible how one may get information about the Pontypridd eistedfford records. But most to find out about W. Morgan the harpist. No idea about the date but suggest the Eistedffordeau might be 1850-1930. Thankyou Alun.

My 1st port of call would be the refence library in the locality with regards to newspaper articles.

I know The Cambrian Index can do a surname search of a given name or occasion (project ongoing not completed) however I am not sure if the Cambrian newspaper would cover Pontypridd.

It may still be worth your while in contacting Mr. Richard Brighton Supervisor of the Cambrian Index project.
Swansea Reference Library Alexander Rd Swansea
Cambrian.IndexATswansea.gov.uk to see if the index covers this region. There is a charge however it is a nominal search charge of about £5.

Hi,
The 1893 eisteddford was held in Pontypridd.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eisteddfod

I checked at Pontypridd library for W. Morgan in the 1893 book of the eistedfford and I'm afraid his name wasn't mentioned at all. Sorry
