Marton still came under the Parish of Poulton until around 1780 if this is any help to you.

I have a book about Blackpool and found this;
"from a well known Moss (Marton Moss)couple, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Cardwell"
They donated an organ to the Methodist Chapel on Squires Gate Lane in 1946.
Doesn't help back in 1780 but I thought you might find it interesting

There are a few more Cardwells mentioned in the book if you are interested. All in Marton.

I was at infants and junior school in Marton in the late 1960s early 1970s, and there was at least one Cardwell I remember in my class.  An established Marton family, I believe.

Me too! I went to Stanley junior school; and then St Georges High. I left school in 1972.
There was a Cardwell in my class too, David I think.

Yep, Stanley, though I was there a little later than you.

I bet Miss Elwood (who had taught my dad 30 years earlier, and then me) must have seen a lot of Cardwells pass through the school!

Small world isn't it?
Don't remember Miss Elwood, but I do remember Mrs Gribbon who taught the Netball, and Mr. Davis and was there a Miss Tickle?
I left Stanley in 1967 whilst Mr Hall was still headmaster; I remember too that he was a local historian.
There are a few good photos from Stanley on Friends Reunited (if you havent already seen them) none of my year though apart from the netball team, (which i didn't make).  :(

Joanne

Many thanks for that. I will use it to go backwards rather than trying to take the links I have forward.

With so many Cardwell's in the area it is difficult to know that one has found the right member of the tree - well sapling !

Thanks again - good to hear the familiar school names!

Hi, I hope you don't mind, but I have an Elizabeth Cardwell born Marton in  our tree.Baptised at Poulton le Fylde 10/4/1831.
She married Thomas Jenkinson. Do you think she could be one of yours.
