RAVANNY and OAKTATE, Louth, in Griffiths' Valuation
« on: Thursday 16 November 06 14:38 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone tell me anything about Oaktate and Ravanny in the Louth Township of Griffiths' Valuation, 1854.  They lay very close together midway between Louth, Co. Louth, and Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan?

Which Catholic parish would they have belonged to and what was the local church for this area?  Whereabouts in Louth could I consult a copy of the relevant parish register?  Which 'Township' map should I buy that would have their location on?

Nicholas and Mary Hoey were living in Oaktate at the time and their three sons - Nicholas, Patrick (who later moved to Sunderland) and Thomas - were living at Ravanny.

Any help with any of the above would be greatly appreciated.

JL.
