Anne-Marie,

Absolutely helps. You might not get any concrete facts, but it adds dimension to the research, and the people.

Thanks.

You're absolutely right.  I am currently working on a biography of my great grandfather and I know he led a very colourful life and skirted just on the wrong side of the law.  Finding out facts such as his explusion at the age of 12 helps to build a true picture of who he really was.
Glad to say grandad never took after his father and was a truly wonderful man.

Hi Anne Marie

Thanks for the update - I'm pleased you were successful in your research. It all adds to the interest & helps get a picture of the people involved. My grandfathers records showed that both him & his siblings were frequent receivers of 3 stripes with the cane.It also gave me the date they left the village to move from Wiltshire to Gloucestershire. Every bit helps

This could be a clue to finding my brickwall gr gr grandfather. I have an idea in the 1860 census and maybe if I look for school records for this boy, it might lead me to him.
