 :D Thank you Daisy.

Yes, it could well be part of the Butticaz family... that are so similar to the Craze family...

I'm stuck at the 1841 census....  ???

Craze as a surname has the same origin as Crass and Craise - old french for fat/big. You can find lots of families with the surname Craze on the censuses. It goes all the way back to the Normans.

Thank you very much for your imput Valda.  :D

The Featherstonehaugh marriage, lead me to a contact but got no further also another Butticaz contact in USA....  :-\

The sons are proving difficult. The Louis I have, has a mother Sarah with them in '41.

So far, most Craze* families, I've traced back to the West country. Making a trip to Illogen churchyard to check some ....  :-\

There is a Louis from Tiverton but age is out.

Regards, Lesanne.

I have seen the will of Catherine Butticaz whose probate was 1797.She leaves money to her youngest children Anne Elizabeth, William George and Sarah Caroline but has other older children Phillip and Susannaah Catherine who were left money by her late aunt, Susannah Hodsdon so she does not include them. I am interested in them all as I think they are related to Susannah Hodsdon Lewington as they have both surnames in their family, Lewington and Hodsdon. An Anne Elizabeth Butticaz died in Oct- Dec 1842 in Radnorshire. I wonder if that is her child. Wyldeone
