Stanley, Nellie, Louie, Norman, Ruby and Richard

[Barry Emmott]

Stanley, Nellie, Louie, Norman, Ruby and Richard Emmott were all brothers and sisters of my grandfather, Gordon Muirhead Emmott, and they were all born in or around Bradford between 1883 and 1895. Unfortunately, since my father died we have completely lost touch with that side of the family and I would dearly love to know what happened to all my great-uncles and great-aunts. I know nothing at all of Stanley and Louie, Nellie Kathleen married (who ?) around 1909, Norman married Mabel (who ?), Ruby married (William Longbottom ?) in 1919 and Richard married Elsie (who ?) and had a son, Richard Hadley Emmott, who unfortunately died in Bradford in 1997, last heard of at 18 Cunliffe Villas, Bradford 8.
All of these events have happened more recently than any published census and I have failed to find any answers on the various BMD forums so I just hope that some people reading this message can help me from their personal knowledge.

Now going on above info I had a look on the 1837 records site and came across a birth for a Richard H Emmott birth registered in the Oct to Nov quarter.

Mother maiden name GELDER registerred in Lancaster vol 8e page 819

could this be his birth entry?

Will look to seeif I can find an Elsie Gelder to seeif it fits form the 1901 census.  I wont hold my breath though as she may have had young Richard when only young her self.

  Yes, Wendy, thats them in 1901 but after that date I can find hardly a thing !! I know that William ended up in Hampshire, Nellie and Kathleen married in Bradford (I believe). Richard Hadley was certainly living in Bradford in the sixties although I suspect he went to Wiltshire for a while before returning to Bradford but I don't know if he ever married. Thats about all I know except that Norman may also have gone to Hampshire (Eastleigh)

Is it just Nellie as in your last post or Nellie Kathleen as in your first post?

If it is the Nellie Kathleen then you are correct as there is a marriage for her reg in Bradford in the Oct to Dec quarter of 1909 volume 9b page 94


Maybe you could invest in this marriage cert to see who she married?

Hello Wendy - she was never referred to as anything other than Nellie but I found the Nellie Kathleen in the records somewhere. Here is her entry in the 1901 census
I found the marriage date but cannot discover, without getting the certificate, which of the two men married on the same sheet was "hers". I had hoped that someone with local or family knowledge might have known the answer or that it might have been deduced in some other way but I haven't been able to find Nellie Kathleen or either of LIVERSIDGE  John France or TOWNEND  Tom, both from Bradford  9b 94

    Hopefully the Yorkshire births, marriages and deaths will all have been transcribed long before then !! There are loads of records for Leeds but virtually nothing for Bradford. Thanks for all your help,
