His causes of death are listed as:
1a) Hypostatic pneumonia
 b)  Cronic Uraemia
 c )  Enlarged prostate
2    Cerebral Thrombosis
                              1949

I'm not sure what the 1949 means?

Would love to find an obituary!

I guess Iris Jessop could have been his next of kin - a niece or something?  But all the other death certificates I have seen do have the relationship to the deceased mentioned.

I wonder if 1 Kinwarton Road could have been a hospital?

I would think your suicide certificate was the exception Romilly, I have four suicide, one murder and two accidents, on all the certificates the informant was the Coroner.

Hi
I think it may have been hospital see

http://www.medicalpages.co.uk/directory/hospitals/NHS/a/alcester_hospital.htm

I have some birth and death certificates, where the event took place in a hospital, but only a street address is given and no mention that it is a hospital!  Can be very confusing.

I have just tried finding an Iris Jessop on Ancestry - bit of a long shot.

BUT .........

Name:  Iris Judd Jessop
Birth:  31 May 1912
Death:  May 2004 - Bath and North East Somerset, Somerset

So it looks as though she is a relative to Thomas Judd.  Now, how on earth do I find out who she was?  Any ideas?

Hi Barbara

Fantastic! Thank you.

So now I know he was in hospital (not surprised given all his ailments) and that the informant was Iris Judd Jessop, a relative of some sort.

I think I need to hit the birth index and see if I can find her mother's maiden name ......... unless, of course, Jessop is her married name!

Hi Tracy,

Glad to see that there's been some progress with this since I last looked!!

I  think that you must be right...& JESSOP was her married name. (Do let us know when you find out).

Best Wishes, Romilly.

Thank you Jebber.   I think it's back to Ancestry to search for a link or more births and marriages!

Will keep you updated - thank you all for your help.  Huge progress since my early morning confusion :)

The causes of death are interesting - especially Cerebral Thrombosis 1949.  This suggests that he suffered a stroke back in 1949, some 8 years before his death, though the more immediate causes of death were those listed under 1.  I wonder whether he was a long-term patient having been permanently disabled to some extent by the stroke.

Edited to add:
Hypostatic pneumonia is caused by stagnation of blood in the lungs and commonly afflicts those who have limited mobility or are bedbound etc.
