1861/1871 census lookup please
« on: Tuesday 30 November 04 05:26 GMT (UK) »
 :D Greetings all from Australia!
Would some kind person be willing to look up these census records (possibly at Aldborough) for the following couple -
JOHN CROWE and MARIA (nee IVORY).
Maria Ivory was bapt. 22 Feb.1835, Barningham Winter (daughter of ROBERT IVORY and MARY FIELDS).  She was a servant in the house of James Chapman at Hanworth in 1851 census.
In the Aldborough Parish Register they (Maria and John Crowe) married by Banns 14 Nov. 1857.

Also any other IVORYs of Barningham Winter, would be much appreciated.

Many thanks, in anticipation.
                                                                  Carol B.

Hi there.

I have just looked through the 1861 census and found your family.  I hope.

Barningham Winter;
Robert Ivory  H  Mar  60  Ag Lab  Bn Barningham Winter
(Dunb from birth.)
Susan Ivory   D  Un    16                    Barningham Winter.

In Alborough;
John Crowe  H  38  Shoemaker Master  Metton
Maria            W  26                                 Barningham Winter
Harriett         D   1                                   Alborough

Charles Crowe  H  68  Carrier Common  Metton
Mary                  W 70                             ???????
Mary                  D  29 Straw bonnet mkr Alborough
Ann                   D   25                               ,,
Esther             GD   17 Dressmkr               ,,
George            GS   11 Scholar                  ,,

I have no access to 1871 at home and I suggest you get the film checked for the entry of Mary's birthplace.  It looked like Flarby but there is no name that I can think of in Norfolk that fits.

Best wishes
