Last May 07, Osprey kindly sent me 1851, 1861 and 1871 Census information
on a much older, Jane Griffiths of Pembrey, Llanelly. He suggested that my
"Jane" may not have reported her true age. He was right!
Recently, I received Jane's tombstone image. She died on June 18, 1934,
at age of 96. This means she was born in 1838, NOT 1843 as reported
in the censuses.
Only one Jane Griffiths has been found. She was born on 25/12/1837,
with a matching father's name of John Griffiths.
This John Griffiths is a "mariner" not John Griffiths the "copper worker"
as reported in the three censuses.
Before I order this birth certificate, could someone please look
to see if there is another family with a daughter, Jane Griffiths, born
in 1838 or 1837, Llanelly/Pembrey area, whose father is John Griffiths.
It is also possible that John Griffiths, was a mariner fireman, at the
time his daughter Jane was born, and then he decided later to work
at job close to where his family lived.
